The name Sandana is a widely used word in some regional Philippine dialects to refer to the red fragrant wood, "sandalwood" (narra). The wood of the narra tree is highly valued and is used in sacred statues and religious carving. Like a protective mantle enveloping the wearer, Sandana is a polished candle with a sacred, ancient history.
